Your [[SRD:Armor Class|Armor Class]] ([[SRD:AC|AC]]) represents how hard it is for opponents to land a solid, damaging blow on you. It’s the [[SRD:Attack Roll|attack roll]] result that an opponent needs to achieve to hit you. Your [[SRD:AC|AC]] is equal to the following: &lt;br /&gt;

&amp;lt;tt&amp;gt;10 + [[SRD:Armor Bonus|armor bonus]] + [[SRD:Shield Bonus|shield bonus]] + [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] modifier + size modifier&amp;lt;/tt&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Note that armor limits your [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus, so if you’re wearing armor, you might not be able to apply your whole [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus to your [[SRD:AC|AC]].&lt;br /&gt;

Sometimes you can’t use your [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus (if you have one). If you can’t react to a blow, you can’t use your [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus to [[SRD:AC|AC]]. (If you don’t have a [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus, nothing happens.)&lt;br /&gt;

Some other [[SRD:AC|AC]] bonuses represent actively avoiding blows. These bonuses are called dodge bonuses. Any situation that denies you your [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus also denies you dodge bonuses. (Wearing armor, however, does not limit these bonuses the way it limits a [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] bonus to [[SRD:AC|AC]].) Unlike most sorts of bonuses, dodge bonuses stack with each other.&lt;br /&gt;

====Touch Attacks====&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Some attacks disregard armor, including shields and [[SRD:Natural Armor|natural armor]]. In these cases, the attacker makes a touch attack roll (either ranged or melee). When you are the target of a touch attack, your [[SRD:AC|AC]] doesn’t include any [[SRD:Armor Bonus|armor bonus]], [[SRD:Shield Bonus|shield bonus]], or natural [[SRD:Armor Bonus|armor bonus]]. All other modifiers, such as your size modifier, [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] modifier, and deflection bonus (if any) apply normally.&lt;br /&gt;
