===Psionic Subtype===

Any creature with psionic [[SRD:Powers|powers]] has the psionic subtype. A psionic creature can be born with the subtype or can gain the subtype during its life.

A creature meeting any one of the following criteria has the psionic subtype:

* Creatures with a [[SRD:Power Points|power point]] reserve, including characters who have levels in a [[SRD:Classes|character class]] that grants them a [[SRD:Power Points|power point]] reserve or creatures who have the [[SRD:Wild Talent|Wild Talent]] [[SRD:Feats|feat]].
* Creatures with [[SRD:Psi-Like Ability|psi-like abilities]], including characters who have racial [[SRD:Psi-Like Ability|psi-like abilities]].
* Creatures that have [[SRD:Spell-Like Ability|spell-like abilities]] described as “[[SRD:Creature Spells and Powers#Powers|psionics]].”

======Traits======

Other than the fact that all psionic creatures have psionic [[SRD:Powers|powers]], [[SRD:Power Points|power points]], or [[SRD:Psi-Like Ability|psi-like abilities]], psionic creatures have no specific traits. The psionic subtype serves to identify creatures that may be vulnerable to [[SRD:Powers|powers]], [[SRD:Creature Spells and Powers#Spells|spells]], and effects targeting psionic creatures.

======[[SRD:Undead Type|Undead]] Psionic Creatures======

A psionic [[SRD:Undead Type|undead]] creature, although rare, is a force to be reckoned with.

Because [[SRD:Undead Type|undead]] are immune to [[SRD:Mind-Affecting Effect|mind-affecting effects]] (including [[SRD:Charm Subdiscipline|charms]] and [[SRD:Compulsion Subschool|compulsions]]), they are particularly threatening to other psionic creatures and characters (especially telepaths). Psionic [[SRD:Undead Type|undead]] creatures can use mind-affecting [[SRD:Powers|powers]] on the living, even though they themselves are immune to such attacks. However, an [[SRD:Undead Type|undead]] creature may have the psionic subtype if it meets the criteria described above, and thus be vulnerable to non-mindaffecting [[SRD:Powers|powers]] or effects that specifically affect psionic creatures.

Intelligent [[SRD:Construct Type|constructs]] and [[SRD:Plant Type|plants]] with psionic [[SRD:Powers|powers]] or [[SRD:Psi-Like Ability|psi-like abilities]] also share this advantage.

======Psionic Focus======

Some creatures have [[SRD:Feats|feats]] that can be used only when the creature is psionically focused, or that require the creature to expend its psionic focus. Assume that such a creature is psionically focused before entering combat.
